Jason Wallace's Corner

To me, the best part about making movies is the journey from,
the blank page, to the darkened theater with an audience.

A blank piece of paper has never intimidated me, in fact, quite the opposite is true. Yes it is frustrating, and yes it is difficult, but never has it been intimidating. Although, for those who have never attempted writing before, I can imagine that it must seem easy, and I encourage those people to attempt to write something, ANYTHING, and find the humbling nature of creativity ALONE in a room, OR, it's great satisfaction! It's a wonderfully terrifying roller coaster...lol

A blank piece of paper is a magical thing to me though. It can turn into a movie script, a song, a novel, a play, a love note, a ransom note, and on a bad day a paper airplane, OR, even the Declaration of Independence.

After all the hard work, the lack of sleep, the fighting, the endless questions & answers, the mental travel, and the character surprises, comes the the big show.

Being in the audience listening to the laughs and the screams or watching someone wiping away tears of joy or sorrow, because of something that you created, in your mind, on a blank piece of paper, well, I don't have any children yet, but it has to be close to that level of satisfaction & pure JOY!

AND THEN YOU DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN, BECAUSE, IT'S SUCH A WONDERFUL JOURNEY!!!

Marquette Williams Corner

What I often admire is how our team at GHS can band together in three days and meet an amazing deadline for a meeting with WME.  There are times where I ask for things with a short turn around.  And we all feel the heat of completion and the desire to reach our goal.  There are times where I may reach beyond what is to naturally be expected of my staff and ask of their own time in order to make us all shine.  I have come to appreciate these moments.  These are the times where I personally witness our greatness and our perseverance to become the prolific artists we are inside.  We run toward our destiny like a child racing in the rain.  To ambitious to even consider failing and to stubborn to allow these mile high hurdles to stop us.  For me this is the company that we have built and I am proud to say I am apart of it. - Marquette

The Creative Mind

"Some days we sit and focus on the next big film or the next big hit and seemingly forget why we began this journey as artists. That fascination with making something special and unique to ourselves and our vision. The thing inside of us that inspires us to dream and live within our own minds.  A glorious splendor of the elusive Alpha state where creative bliss is interlaced with the common morality of the business of art."

My Internship Experience @ GHS!

Today was my last day at GHS, and since I didn't get to say good-bye to everyone, so I at least wanted to send my thoughts about my time here.

I remember I was really excited about this internship when I first found out about it, but at first I did feel a little uncomfortable and shy. This feeling didn't last long however; you guys made me feel welcomed and at home, and soon enough I began looking forward to each day I got to spend in the studio. There was a lot of work to do, but you guys were always so patient with me and always had some kind and funny words to say. It's safe to say that this was the first time I was in a professional environment with so many creative people, and I will never forget that, nor will I forget how warm and inviting GHS has been.

So thank you for giving me this opportunity to work with you all, and thank you for treating me so well these past months. I'll definitely visit in the future, and I wish only for the best and brightest future for GHS!

Sincerely,
Diana Huh

Interested in 3D films? Greenhouse Studios is looking to shoot their next film in 3D!

During Vietnam, a platoon of soldiers is sent into the jungle to retrieve some POW’s, just shortly after the U.S. government released an Agent Orange type gas that turned the Viet Cong into zombies. During the rescue the soldiers come across a French nun and some orphans and must rescue them as well, all while fighting off the zombies.

Now, imagine all of this in 3D! A teaser may be coming your way in the near future! Be sure to check out our youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/GHStudiosllc1 !

WORDS OF A GREENHOUSE EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT:

am relieved to say that I completed the rewrites to my second script entitled, "Hyssop" today and  looking forward to the development stages with the producers at GHS. I am thankful to be given the opportunity to not only grow creatively at the studio, but to learn what it takes to actually get a movie into production and it's a lot of work. I am thrilled to be apart of that process!!

WORDS OF A DIRECTOR/FILMAKER:

"Rare is the word that I choose to describe my experience at the
Greenhouse Studios Mixer featuring the Epic Camera, RED’s latest.  Rare is
it that you see so many true artists in one place. Rare is it that a
Hollywood event is not motivated by profit but by a genuine desire to
bring together truly talented people so that they may grow together.
Greenhouse Studios opened their doors to family, friends, business
associates, artists and anyone else who had a desire to expand their
knowledge about the film business.  They did this because this is who they
are as individuals and a company.  Rare is it that you go to a Hollywood
mixer and experience absolutely no attitude.  Rare is it that every person
you meet you feel like you have known your whole life. Thank you for such
an amazingly rare experience." --- Troy Cunningham, Director/Filmmaker

WORDS OF A GREENHOUSE PARTNER:

"Fun is the word that I choose to describe the atmosphere at Greenhouse.
I had one of the editor's that is working in one of our bays tell me that he loves
being here because although people are working we seem to really enjoy what
we do and have fun with one another. I liked to hear that because we are striving
to create an environment where people truly want to be here, especially when
we work such long hours."

WORDS OF A GREENHOUSE EMPLOYEE:

"It is in moments like this that I fall in love with my work. I look at the
film package Peg sent me and all I see are digital images of mental
dreams. Every film is a dream or a myriad of dreams… the dream of the
writer to write the story, the dream of the director to channel the
actors, the dream of the actors to be the vehicle, the dream of the
graphic designer, editor, producer, dream, dream, dream. The magic happens
when ALL dream the same dream.... But the one that dreamed the hardest
holds the Oscar and just if you are Blessed."

WORDS OF A GREENHOUSE EMPLOYEE:

"The 2011 Sundance Festival made me fall in love all over with the World of Art, with the possibilities of creative expression, with the dreams of individuals in my own team at Greenhouse Studios!  I saw that Dreams+ Actions+ Youth= Movies… This ambitious equation and perhaps naive became tangible not only in my spirit but now at my fingertips. Sundance showed me the power of teamwork and the fruits it fosters.  I attended the festival for only three days but I was fortunate to see four films: Kinyarwanda, Win Win, Son of No One, Like Crazy!  ALL four were brilliant! Yet… on the low budget end of production.  I asked myself, “Does this mean that making an excellent movie is not solely correlated to production budget?; Does that mean financial resources are not the driver of filmmaking but more so the vehicle?;  I realized that the glass is not half empty or half full, it is spilling over for I have a team that’s full of talent and ability and the possibilities are so many  as they are the vibrations of each member!  With high appreciation and deep gratitude for GHS, I live this words in truth!"

WORDS OF GREENHOUSE PATNER: SUNDANCE

"The 2011 Sundance Film Festival was my sixth time attending the festival.  It was a nice experience to attend the festival with a newbie such as Radostina and see her reaction to this amazing and wonderful festival.  I've always enjoyed the festival.  I really feel it caters to the filmmakers and the lovers of film.  I'm the person that usually goes and watches movies from 8am until midnight or later, but this year Radostina was able to get me to enjoy the nightlife that Sundance and Park City offers as well.  Maybe next year she will finally get me on the slopes, although that would take a lot of coercion.  Sundance is truly a magical festival and it's great to be among so much talent and passion.  If it doesn't rub off on you then you should check yourself and make sure you still have a pulse.  I'm looking forward to next year."

Howard Stern to Piers Morgan: Jay Leno is 'a crook,' 'insane,' 'not fit to scrub Letterman's feet'

It took a while for Piers Morgan to get a rise out of Howard Stern, but Stern finally uncorked when the subject turned to Jay Leno. On the second night of Piers Morgan Tonight, Stern called the Tonight Show host a “crook,” “insane,” “not fit to scrub David Letterman’s feet,” and said that Leno “steals a tremendous amount of material.” “America must be filled with morons,” said Stern, “the ones who watch Jay, they must be in a coma.”
This was just about the only moment the conversation sprang to life, however. Too much time was wasted with Piers Morgan complimenting Piers Morgan. “I’m the British King of All Media,” he said to the self-proclaimed King of All Media. “I’m teasing stuff out of you,” boasted Morgan. Stern looked nonplussed. “I don’t think you got anything out of me,” he replied. The conversation rambled uneventfully, unless you think it’s news that Stern doesn’t dye his hair.
Morgan’s questions ranged from “Are you sex-mad?” to “How much do you make?” — as though Stern was going to answer that. Morgan tried to tease him — “You’re a domesticated little pussycat” — only to be met with Stern’s mild assent. Our Piers has a tendency to over-inflate things, referring, for example, to “the David Arquette moment, which is the stuff of legend.” Legend? Really?
I was rooting for Morgan, but his second show was a tedious dud. Anyone with even a minimal interest in Stern would have heard nearly everything he said on Tuesday night before, and I don’t even hear Stern on satellite radio.
Clearly, Piers Morgan Tonight will have to do some work on the host’s tone; he needs to demonstrate some aggressiveness, rather than merely asserting it.
