Fatherhood 101

I am gearing up to begin shooting on the Fatherhood 101 documentary this month and extremely excited about it. I couldn’t sleep last night, thinking about shot selections, production and troubleshooting my daily schedule. It’s awesome
to be able to work in an industry that would even accept a film about people’s trails and tribulations.

For the next few weeks my life won’t be about Hollywood deals and big money projects. Although it’s the things I love because it’s the meat of my life, I feel humbled to go back to the reason why I fell in love with cinema. To witness the world around me in a cinematic way and to capture what is generally stored as a memory is a very rewarding experience. If you personally know me, you know how much I want to blow things up and film it, but this time there will be no actors, no explosions or car chases. As a company we have always felt the need to constantly be socially conscious and aware to always express the need for change as well as to honor successes of those not always defined by a lucrative stock portfolio.

It’s a pleasure for Greenhouse Studios to work with the Center for Families and Children as well as the Fatherhood Initiative.  Anyone can sit back and an armchair and quarterback the social pitfalls around us but we as a company and I as a filmmaker choose to be involved on any level that we can.  As artist we have the unique talent of capturing the human image allowing obscure stories to be heard and preserved. This is a chance to celebrate, honor, explore, understand and praise those who have put in on half of the population in the world.  If they have done nothing else they have given us the one thing we truly cherish... our lives.

I am blessed to be able to pull off the first frame and will be equally blessed when shooting the last. To see and hear men talk about their love for their children, to see children talk about the love and need for their fathers. To document such conversations and moments are truly priceless.

  2. I'm Author Black Coffee. I have a series that will fit this movement perfectly. I came here looking to reach Marquette Williams. My series hometown is Cleveland and through Felecia Haney [Call and Post] I learned of him. My series is Time Will Reveal and it's coming of age and an ode to those days when men ran the families and still came home. I would love to make contact with you asap. I'm talking with other producers but they're don't have that Cleveland connect. And even though that is not my hometown, it is for my series and I promosed my faithful readers [and leaders] there that I would keep it Cleveland all the way. I look forward to hearing from you very soon.
